About Me

Hi there! My name’s Emily, and I’m all about visual storytelling through illustration and animation. As a graduate of WSU with a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication), I’ve produced a variety of illustrated and animated design work. My degree has also enabled me to work with Towards Zero Suicide, Made in the West, and Sydney Water to produce various promotional design pieces. My strengths lie in developing characters and worlds, and I love discovering new techniques and learning more about my craft. I aim to consistently produce bold, powerful, and memorable design pieces. If you’re looking for an eager designer to bring your ideas to life, you’ve come to the right place!

Mind: Mayhem, Mischief and Mirth

In a world where children are experiencing higher levels of depression and anxiety, as well as becoming increasingly reliant on their devices, this project aims to provide a positive bonding experience between parent and child, by starting a conversation about mental health. Mind: Mayhem, Mischief and Mirth is a 32-page picture book exploring landscapes that represent different mental states. The protagonist, a black cat, represents someone who is struggling to deal with various negative emotions. The secondary character, a fox, serves as the cat’s mentor, encouraging it along the way and providing helpful tips to cope. A white bird can also be seen in the background in some illustrations, flying silently along with the cat and fox as a metaphor for happiness and peace. I ultimately want this project to give readers struggling with mental health issues a feeling of hope, and to help them feel supported and understood.
